Why Was My Egg Donor Application Rejected? Top Five Reasons

5 Common Reasons Egg Donor Applications Get Declined

Are you eager to become an egg donor but haven’t heard back from any egg donor program? Takes3, the egg donor program created by Northeast Assisted Fertility Group (NAFG), is not a medical clinic, but with over twenty years’ experience reviewing egg donor applications from across the United States, we’ve identified the five top reasons egg donor applications get declined.

You are Too Young or Too Old

Takes3, the egg donor program of Northeast Assisted Fertility Group (NAFG), requires an age range of 21 and 29 for first-time egg donors. The minimum age is based on ethical guidelines established by ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine). The maximum age is based on the average fertility rates and ovarian reserves of women under 30.

If you’re older than 29, does that mean that you are infertile? No! The age limit is based on general statistics, and of course, there are individual variances. However, because of the great expense of egg donor screening tests, we cannot make exceptions. If you’re older than 29 and have recently donated eggs successfully, we will consider your application.

Your Weight (or Body Mass Index) is Out of Normal Range

Does being overweight make you unhealthy and infertile? Not necessarily. However, overweight candidates are less appealing to prospective donor egg recipients and therefore harder to match. Candidates in the obese category would not be qualified, as there could be health risks. It is more unusual to have a BMI too low, but it is possible, and would decrease your potential fertility (and would also make you ineligible). Use this online BMI calculator to assess your eligibility before applying to become an egg donor.

You Smoke or Use Recreational Drugs

Cigarette smoking, marijuana use in its various forms, and other recreational drug use are contraindicated for egg donation. Don’t conceal this on your egg donor application, because you will be tested for these substances throughout the egg donor process!

Citizenship Status

You must be a US citizen or legal resident with a Social Security number in order to earn money in the US. If you are here on a student visa or special work visa (that allows you to work in your field only), you would not be eligible for egg donation.

You Skip the Family Medical History Questions

If you do not know the ages, causes of death, or medical conditions of your parents, grandparents, and siblings, it will be impossible to determine your eligibility for egg donation. If you skip over these questions because you do not know and don’t take the time to inquire with family members, your egg donor application will not receive a response.

What if none of these disqualifiers apply to you, and you still do not get a response? This does not mean that you are unhealthy, infertile, or ineligible! Takes3 and The Northeast Assisted Fertility Group offer the highest compensation for egg donors; therefore, our donor egg recipients are looking for more than just good health, but for additional special qualities.
